Old French Colony is a term used to refer to the former French colony of Acadia, which was located in what is now the Canadian Maritime provinces and parts of Maine. Acadia was established by the French in the early 1600s and was populated by both French settlers and the indigenous Mi'kmaq people. The colony was eventually ceded to the British in 1713, and the population was eventually dispersed.
