Ric Ocasek of The Cars was an American singer, songwriter, musician, and record producer. He was the lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist, and principal songwriter of the rock band The Cars. Ocasek was known for his deadpan vocal delivery and distinctive mop-top hairstyle. He wrote and produced many of the band's hits, including 'Just What I Needed', 'My Best Friend's Girl', and 'DRIVE'. He also produced albums for other bands, such as Bad Brains, Weezer, and No Doubt. Ocasek was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of The Cars in 2018.
