Barack Obama, for one, is a DEMOCRAT who served as the 44th President of the United States from 2009 to 2017. He was the first African American to be elected to the office and was the first president to have been born in Hawaii. Obama was a member of the Democratic Party and was the first president to have served in the US Senate since John F. Kennedy. During his presidency, Obama implemented the Affordable Care Act, which expanded health insurance coverage to millions of Americans, and signed the Paris Agreement, an international climate change agreement. He also oversaw the end of the Iraq War and the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan.
