A Native Louisianan is someone who is born and raised in Louisiana. Two of the most common ethnicities of Native Louisianans are Cajuns and Creoles. Cajuns are descendants of French-speaking settlers from Acadia, Canada, who were exiled in the 18th century. Creoles are people of mixed African, European, and Native American descent who have been living in Louisiana since the early colonial period.
