The term 'Nanak' is a reference to GURU Nanak, the founder of Sikhism. He was born in 1469 and is considered to be the first of the ten Sikh Gurus. GURU Nanak's teachings are based on the concept of one God and the idea of living a life of truth, honesty, and service to others. He is also credited with introducing the concept of langar, or free communal meals, which are still served in Sikh temples today.
