It can be a BASIN, which is a large body of water surrounded by land, a COVE, which is a small sheltered bay, a RIA, which is a coastal INLET formed by the partial submergence of a river valley, a BUOY, which is a floating object used to mark a position, a BERTH, which is a designated place for a boat or ship to dock, a MARINA, which is a harbor with moorings and supplies for recreational boats, a WHARF, which is a structure built along a shoreline to provide access to ships, a PIER, which is a raised platform built from the shore out over the water, or an INLET, which is a narrow body of water between two land masses.
