Liverpool Football Club, commonly known as Liverpool FC or simply Liverpool, is an English professional football club based in Liverpool, Merseyside. The club was founded in 1892 and has since become one of the most successful clubs in English football history, having won eighteen league titles, seven FA Cups, eight League Cups, and six European Cups. Everton is a rival football club from the same city, and is the longest-running top-flight club in England, having been founded in 1878. The two clubs have a long-standing rivalry, with matches between them referred to as the Merseyside derby.
