Lennie Briscoe is a fictional character from the long-running American television series Law & Order. He is a detective in the New York City Police Department's 27th Detective Squad, and is portrayed by actor Jerry Orbach. Briscoe is a gruff, streetwise detective who has seen it all and is not easily shocked. He is known for his dry wit and sarcastic sense of humor, as well as his fondness for cigars and alcohol.
