The last Stuart of the Monarchy was Queen ANNE, who reigned from 1702 to 1714. She was the daughter of James II and VII, the last Catholic monarch of England, Scotland, and Ireland. She succeeded her brother-in-law, William III, and her sister, Mary II, as monarch. During her reign, she oversaw the union of England and Scotland in 1707, which created the Kingdom of Great Britain. She also oversaw the War of Spanish Succession, which ended with the Treaty of Utrecht in 1713.
