Elena Kagan is an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. She was nominated by President Barack Obama in May 2010 and was confirmed by the Senate in August of the same year. Kagan is the fourth woman to serve on the Supreme Court and the first Jewish female justice. Prior to her appointment, she served as the first female Solicitor General of the United States and as the Dean of Harvard Law School. Kagan is known for her progressive views on a variety of issues, including abortion, same-sex marriage, and affirmative action.
