Hades is the Greek god of the underworld and husband of Persephone. He is often depicted as a dark figure with a helmet and a two-pronged staff. He is also known as the ruler of the dead and the god of wealth. HADES abducted Persephone, daughter of Demeter, and made her his wife. This abduction caused Demeter to grieve and bring about a long winter. Eventually, Zeus intervened and allowed Persephone to return to her mother for part of the year, while she stayed with HADES for the other part. Thus, HADES is the husband of Persephone in Greek mythology.
