The Hurricane of 2011 was Hurricane Irene, a Category 3 hurricane that made landfall in the United States in August of 2011. It caused extensive damage and flooding along the East Coast, from North Carolina to New England. It was the first hurricane to make landfall in the United States since 2008, and the first major hurricane to make landfall in the Northeast since Hurricane Gloria in 1985.
