Ho Chi Minh City, formerly known as Saigon, is the largest city in Vietnam. It was renamed in 1976 after the late North Vietnamese leader Ho Chi Minh. The city was originally known as Prey Nokor, and was later named Saigon by the French colonists who occupied the area in the 19th century.
