The Himalayan region is known for its treacherous terrain, and two of the most dangerous elements are avalanches and crevasses. An AVALANCHE is a large mass of snow, ice, and rocks that slides down a mountain slope, often with devastating consequences. A CREVASSE is a deep crack in a glacier or snowfield, which can be extremely hazardous to traverse. Both of these dangers are common in the Himalayas, and can cause serious injury or death if not taken seriously.
