Hawaii is home to three active volcanoes: Kilauea, Mauna Kea, and Mauna Loa. Kilauea is the youngest and most active volcano in Hawaii, having been erupting continuously since 1983. Mauna Kea is the highest peak in Hawaii, standing at 4, 207 meters above sea level. Mauna Loa is the largest volcano on Earth, with an estimated volume of 9, 600 cubic kilometers. All three of these Hawaiian volcanoes are part of the Hawaiian-Emperor seamount chain, which is a series of volcanoes that were formed by the Hawaiian hotspot.
