The Hawaiian goose, also known as the Nene, is a species of goose endemic to the Hawaiian Islands. It is the state bird of Hawaii and is considered an endangered species due to its small population size. The Nene is the only goose native to Hawaii and is the only surviving member of the genus Branta. It is a medium-sized goose with a black head, neck, and bill, and grayish-brown body and wings. The Nene is a ground-nesting bird and feeds on grasses, leaves, and berries.
