The Hawaiian-born President is Barack Obama, who was the 44th President of the United States from 2009 to 2017. He was born in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1961 and is the first African American to be elected President. Obama was a civil rights lawyer and a professor of constitutional law before entering politics. He served in the Illinois State Senate from 1997 to 2004 and in the United States Senate from 2005 to 2008.
