The Hatfield-McCoy Conflict, also known as the Hatfield-McCoy FEUD, was a long-running dispute between two families in the Appalachian Mountains of West Virginia and Kentucky in the late 19th century. The FEUD began in 1863 and lasted for decades, with both sides engaging in acts of violence and revenge. The conflict was fueled by longstanding tensions between the two families, as well as disputes over land and resources. The FEUD eventually ended in 1891, but its legacy lives on in popular culture.
