Harold Ramis was an American actor, director, and writer best known for his role as Egon Spengler in the 1984 comedy film Ghostbusters. He was also a co-writer of the film, along with Dan Aykroyd and Ivan Reitman. Ramis was born in Chicago, Illinois, and began his career as a writer and performer on the National Lampoon Radio Hour. He went on to write and direct several successful comedies, including Caddyshack, Groundhog Day, and Analyze This.
