Iris is the Greek goddess of the rainbow. She is often depicted as a messenger of the gods, traveling between the heavens and the mortal world. She is also associated with the sea and water, and is sometimes seen carrying a pitcher of water or a staff entwined with a rainbow. In some stories, she is the daughter of Thaumas and Electra, and in others, she is the daughter of the Titans Oceanus and Tethys.
