Redd Foxx was an American stand-up comedian and actor best known for his role as Fred Sanford in the 1970s sitcom 'Sanford and Son'. He was born John Elroy Sanford in 1922 and began his career in the 1940s. Foxx was a pioneer in the genre of raunchy stand-up comedy, and his influence can still be seen today.
