Zeno was a Greek philosopher who is credited as the founder of Stoicism, a school of Hellenistic philosophy. He was born in Citium, Cyprus in the 4th century BC and is believed to have died in Athens, Greece in the early 3rd century BC. Zeno's teachings focused on developing self-control and fortitude as a means of overcoming destructive emotions. His ideas were influential in the development of later philosophical schools such as Epicureanism and Skepticism.
