The former Dutch currency was composed of three coins: the GULDEN (7 letters), FLORIN (6 letters) and GULDEN (6 letters). The GULDEN was the main currency of the Netherlands from the 16th century until 2002, when it was replaced by the euro. The FLORIN was a gold coin that was issued in the Netherlands from 1354 to 1849. The GULDEN was a silver coin that was first issued in the Netherlands in 1517 and remained in circulation until 2002.
