The Eumenides are a group of female chthonic deities in Greek mythology, also known as the Furies. They were the daughters of Gaea and Uranus, and were tasked with punishing those who had committed crimes against the natural order. The term Eumenides is derived from the Greek word eumene, meaning 'KINDLY' or 'BENEVOLENT'. The Eumenides are often referred to by their other name, the ERINYES, which means 'angry ones'.
