Erasmus was a Dutch Renaissance Humanist, born in Rotterdam in 1466. He was a theologian, philosopher, and scholar who wrote extensively on topics such as education, religion, and literature. He is best known for his work In Praise of Folly, which satirized the Catholic Church and its practices. He was also an important figure in the development of the modern European language, and he helped to standardize Latin and Greek. He is remembered as one of the most influential figures of the Dutch Renaissance.
