The ARAL Sea is a large body of water located in Central Asia, between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. It was once the fourth largest lake in the world, but due to the diversion of its feeder rivers for irrigation, it has been shrinking since the 1960s. In recent years, the ARAL Sea has almost completely disappeared, leaving behind a desert-like landscape. This phenomenon is known as the Disappearing Asian Sea, or the ARAL Sea.
