Elena Dementieva of Tennis is a former Russian professional tennis player. She was born in Moscow and won the 2004 Olympic gold medal in singles. She also reached the finals of the 2008 French Open and the 2009 US Open. Her career-high ranking was world No. 3, which she achieved in April 2009. She retired from professional tennis in 2010. Her nickname was 'Elenas' and she was known for her powerful serve and forehand. She was also a member of the United States Tennis Association's Arthur Ashe Humanitarian Award in 2009.
