Eamon de Valera of Ireland was an Irish statesman who served as the third President of Ireland from 1959 to 1973. He was a leader of the Irish War of Independence and later of the anti-Treaty faction during the Irish Civil War. He was also the founder of Fianna Fáil, a political party which is still in power today.
