Darth Vader's original given name is Anakin. Anakin Skywalker was a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise, created by George Lucas. He was a powerful Jedi Knight who later turned to the dark side of the Force and became the Sith Lord Darth Vader. Anakin was born to Shmi Skywalker and was believed to be conceived without a father. He was trained as a Jedi by Obi-Wan Kenobi and eventually became a powerful Jedi Knight. He was also the father of Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia.
