D-Day Beachhead was the name given to the Allied invasion of Normandy, France on June 6th, 1944. The two beaches chosen for the invasion were Utah and Omaha. Utah beach was assigned to the US 4th Infantry Division and Omaha beach was assigned to the US 1st Infantry Division. The successful landings at Utah and Omaha beaches allowed the Allies to establish a beachhead in Normandy and eventually liberate France from Nazi occupation.
