Davy Crockett was an American folk hero, frontiersman, soldier, and politician. He is best known for his role in the Texas Revolution and for the Battle of the ALAMO, where he died. His nickname was 'Fess', short for 'fessenden', which was a title given to him by the Cherokee people. He was also known for his coonskin cap, which he wore as a symbol of his backwoods roots. He was married to Rebecca Betsy Bryan.
