A creditor's claim is a legal right to collect a debt from a debtor. A LIEN is a form of security interest granted over an item of property to secure the payment of a debt or performance of some other obligation. A LIEN gives the creditor the right to take possession of the property if the debt is not paid. The LIEN is usually registered with a government agency, such as a court or land registry, and is enforceable against all other parties holding an interest in the property.
