Kildare is a county in Eastern Ireland. It is located in the province of Leinster and is bordered by six other counties. It has an area of 1, 638 square kilometers and a population of 222, 504 people as of the 2016 census. Kildare is known for its horse racing and breeding industry, as well as its many historic sites. It is also home to the Irish National Stud, which is a major tourist attraction.
