Country music musician Joe Ely is an American singer-songwriter, guitarist, and actor from Amarillo, Texas. He is best known for his work with the Flatlanders and his solo career, which has spanned more than four decades. His stage name, Ely, is derived from his middle name, Llyod. He has released more than 20 albums, including his most recent, Panhandle Rambler, in 2019. He has also collaborated with many other artists, including Bruce Springsteen, John Hiatt, and Los Super Seven.
