Counselor Deanna Troi is a character from the popular science fiction television series Star Trek: The Next Generation. She is a half-Betazoid, half-human hybrid who serves as the ship's counselor on board the USS Enterprise. Troi is an empathic and intuitive individual who is able to sense the emotions of others. She is also a trained mediator and negotiator, and often assists Captain Picard in resolving conflicts between crew members.
