Counselor Deanna Troi is a character from the popular science fiction franchise Star Trek. She is an empath, meaning she has the ability to sense and understand the emotions of others. She is also known as the ship's counselor, and is often referred to as Counselor Deanna Troi or simply Counselor Troi. She is portrayed by Marina Sirtis in the television series and films. Her husband is Commander William Riker, played by Jonathan Frakes. Deanna is also the daughter of the Betazoid ambassador Lwaxana Troi, played by Majel Barrett. In the episode 'The Price', Deanna is promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Commander and given the title of Counselor Deanna Durbin.
