It was also known as the 'Continental Currency' and was printed in denominations of $1, $2, $3, $4, $5, $10, $20, $30, $50, $75, and $100. The Continental Dollar was backed by the promise of future taxation and was intended to be used to pay for military supplies and other expenses. The Euro is the official currency of the European Union and is used by 19 of the 28 member states. It is denoted by the symbol € and is divided into 100 cents.
