The Continental Currency Unit (CCU) was a unit of currency used in Europe from 1999 to 2002. It was replaced by the Euro, which is a four-letter currency symbolized by EUR. The CCU was created as part of the European Monetary System and was used to facilitate the transition from national currencies to the Euro. The CCU was used in all European Union countries except for Denmark, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.
