Ada Lovelace was a computer pioneer and mathematician who is widely considered to be the first computer programmer. She was born in 1815 and worked closely with Charles Babbage on his Analytical Engine, a mechanical general-purpose computer. Lovelace wrote the first algorithm intended to be processed by a machine, which is why she is often referred to as the world's first computer programmer.
