Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov was a Russian composer of the late Romantic period. He is best known for his symphonic works, operas, and ballets. He was born in 1844 and died in 1908. His given name was Nikolai Andreyevich Rimsky-Korsakov, but he is commonly referred to as Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov or simply Rimsky-Korsakov. He was a member of the group of composers known as The Five, and his music is noted for its colorful orchestration and use of folk melodies.
