A BAY is a broad INLET of the sea where the land curves inward. A CAPE is a piece of land extending out into a body of water. An INLET is a narrow body of water leading inland from a larger body of water. A DUNE is a ridge or hill of sand formed by the wind. A SHOAL is a shallow area of sea, especially one near the shore. A RIA is a coastal INLET formed by the partial submergence of an unglaciated river valley.
