The Coast Guard Women, also known as SPARS (an acronym for the Coast Guard's motto 'Semper Paratus, Always Ready'), were the first group of women to serve in the United States Coast Guard during World War II. They served in a variety of roles, including clerical work, radio operations, and other administrative duties.
