The Coast Guard is a branch of the United States Armed Forces and its members are known as Coast Guard Members. An Ensign (ENS) is an officer rank in the Coast Guard, typically the lowest commissioned officer rank. Ensigns are responsible for leading small units of Coast Guard personnel and managing the day-to-day operations of their assigned unit. They also provide guidance and support to junior enlisted personnel.
