Donna Shalala is a former Clinton Cabinet member who served as the United States Secretary of Health and Human Services from 1993 to 2001. She was the first woman to hold this position and was responsible for overseeing the implementation of the Children's Health Insurance Program, which provided health insurance to millions of children. She also worked to improve the quality of health care in the United States and to reduce the cost of prescription drugs. Shalala is currently the president of the University of Miami.
