Clara Barton, for one, was a NURSE. She was an American teacher, NURSE, and humanitarian who founded the American Red Cross in 1881. She was born in Massachusetts in 1821 and worked as a teacher and patent clerk before becoming a NURSE during the Civil War. She is remembered for her tireless work in providing medical aid to wounded soldiers on both sides of the conflict. After the war, she continued her work in providing relief to those affected by natural disasters and other crises.
