Ida B. Wells was an African American journalist, suffragist, and civil rights advocate. She was born in 1862 in Holly Springs, Mississippi and is best known for her work to end lynching in the United States. She was a co-founder of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and was a leader in the women's suffrage movement. Wells was also an early leader in the civil rights movement, advocating for equal rights for African Americans.
