The Chinese Revolutionary Sun Yat-sen (also known as Sun Zhongshan) was a Chinese revolutionary and political leader who is widely regarded as the father of modern China. He was the first provisional president of the Republic of China and founder of the Kuomintang (KMT), the Chinese Nationalist Party. Yat-sen was a key figure in the overthrow of the Qing Dynasty and the establishment of the Republic of China in 1912. He is also credited with initiating the Chinese Revolution of 1911, which led to the end of imperial rule in China.
