Chairman Zedong was the leader of the Chinese Communist Party from 1943 to 1976, and is commonly known as Mao Zedong. He was a revolutionary leader who helped to establish the People's Republic of China in 1949. Mao Zedong was also a poet, philosopher, and political theorist. He is remembered for his leadership during the Cultural Revolution, which aimed to modernize China and bring it into the 20th century.
