The MACE is a club-like object with a heavy head, usually made of metal or wood. The SCEPTER and SCEPTRE are similar in shape, but the SCEPTER is typically longer and more ornate than the SCEPTRE. All three of these objects are held by a person of high rank or authority during formal ceremonies.
