The ARAL Sea is a landlocked body of water located in Central Asia. It was once the fourth-largest lake in the world, but has since shrunk due to the diversion of its feeder rivers for irrigation and other human activities. The ARAL Sea is now split into two separate bodies of water, the North ARAL Sea and the South ARAL Sea. The North ARAL Sea is slowly recovering due to the construction of dams, while the South ARAL Sea continues to shrink.
